Hello everyone!  Heidi Balnkenship here today to share a fun summertime card with you using a couple of the Pink Ink Stamps.    To Start I stamped the On the Boardwalk image onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink.  Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to color all of the images. Some of the image were just colored with the pens and on some of them I did some blending of the color with water.  I used two different paint brushes for the blending--round 8 and liner 2.   After all of the images were colored then I did a little bit of shading at the bottom and I also colored the sky.  To achieve the look of clouds in the sky first I added the color and then I used a heat tool to speed up the drying time.  Next I added just plain water in the shape of a cloud in the sky.  I let the water sit for a few seconds and then I blotted the area with a paper towel.  Doing this pulled up the water in that area and leaving the appearance of a cloud.   I added some red and white twine and an ice cream cone charm which I thought would be a fun little embellishment and it worked perfectly for the summertime theme of the card.  I wanted to add some sparkle and dimension to the card so I went over some of the areas with the Zig Wink of Stella Clear Brush Pen.  Then I applied Glossy Accent to some of the images.  I also added the sentiment right under the boardwalk image.    I used two of the dies from the Tonic Studios Mixed Rectangles Layering Die Set to cut and emboss the two rectangle shapes.  I used scor-tape to apply white craft foam to the back of the image and give it a little dimension.  Then I adhered everything to a red A2 card base. This is such a fun summertime image!  It would be great for a birthday card, a day at the carnival or just a fun summertime thinking of you card. Summer Sketch Book

Hello Pink Ink Fans -- Sharon Harnist back with you today, with a fun Summer project! My youngest daughter has always loved drawing and has taken a renewed interest in it again lately. To help nurture her talent, I customized a sketch book for her using most all of Pink Ink's fabulous latest summer stamp release! I love all the beachy, summery images and hope these will help inspire my daughter over the summer!  And since this is a sketch book, I thought it would be appropriate to keep the images stamped in just black ink. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink and was very pleased with how well the images stamped out on the leather cover!  Don’t you love all the amazing details in these images?!! On the inside cover page I stamped Beach Cabanas #2274L and colored it with Copic markers: Fun, aren't they?!!  I also tested out coloring Flowery Flip Flops #2272J on the back leather cover, and think it turned out pretty well! You just have to experiment with your color selection, when coloring onto a darker surface like this leather.  You could use kraft cardstock to practice, before committing to a cover like this. Just the Word "Vacation"

Call it a break, a holiday, time off or r & r - we all need one occasionally, and rarely get as much as we need.  As a self run business, "stay-cations" just don't cut it.  When your studio is at home, the pull of the drawing board and emails and orders is just too strong to resist.  So, after a l-o-o-o-n-g hiatus, my husband and I are off on a real vacation this week - in an airplane, over the water, to somewhere where English is not the first language.   I've been consumed by the "busy-ness" of business for the past few months - illustrating two 88 page coloring books back to back, designing a new group of summer stamps and attending a trade show across the country.  It's hard to un-plug and let things subside.  I keep thinking about what needs to get done next...because there's always something!   So I bought myself a lovely hot pink leather sketch book and a nifty new .05 drawing pen and I'm going to take these two weeks off and do some sketching just for myself.  I'm going to try to relax and "be a sponge" - to soak up different sights, sounds, scents and flavors (we're taking a couple cooking classes together)!  Hopefully, I'll come back recharged and reinvigorated and ready to seize the day once again.  Vacations can be many things - a day in the city visiting museums and shopping, a hike in the woods, a trip to the beach, a weekend of wine tasting (I'm betraying my California roots here).  Pink Ink's new summer stamp collection is all about the fun and relaxation of summer vacation...even if it's just donning a pretty pair of flip flops. Summer Ice Cream

Well summer has arrived in the Rockies.  For a while I thought we were all going to develop web feet from all of the rain, but alas, the sunny skies and hot temperatures are here!!  Of course nothing is better in the summer than ice cream.  Disclaimer, I think every season and every day is great for ice cream:) This fun stamp is called Super Sundae and the sentiment is Good Old Summertime. The background was created using an emboss resist technique and Distress Inks.  The image was stamped onto Stamp masking paper and fussy cut out and then placed over top of the stamped image on the cardstock. Background stamp was stamped twice with the second stamp stamped slightly higher to give a second line. I embossed with white embossing powder.  I used Post it Tape as a mask to create very sharp and clean lines between the colors.  And of course a few sequins for some bling bling. Kiddie Car

Hello to Pink Ink Stamp Fans!  It's a gorgeous day here in southern Colorado and summer is just around the corner.   I'm loving this kiddie car stamp.  It just so darn sweet and definitely brings back memories of my childhood. I had to share mine with my brothers (or they were sharing their car with me) and remember needing to use wood blocks on the pedals because I was so small:)   The Kiddie car stamp can be found on-line at Ellen Hutson HERE. The too fun of a sentiment, Going Places, can also be found at Ellen Hutson HERE. The stamp was colored up with Copics and the grass was done with a variety of colored pencils. The papers are from Doodlebug and the gear die cut (cut out twice in white) are from Memory Box.  The image was matted up with coordinating papers using the Perfect Layers tool.
